This photograph was taken a number of years ago at a house party on New Years Eve. The significance of this goes far beyond the fact that it is a picture of 4 dudes buzzed up on an assortment of alcohol and the oppertunities of the future.
The people in the photograph are as follows:
Mr. Jean Jacket #1 (Michael McClusky) - I am not currently up to date on Mr. Mclusty’s musical ventures, but a few years back he was creating everything from intelligent noise and subtle ambiance to big mother f*cking beats.
Shirtless (Robby Mcmahon AKA Pistol Beat) - Pistol Beat is the equivalent to a Jedi Knight when it comes to the beats. - Again, I haven’t heard anything as of late, but what I have heard in the past is a serious trip. Check out Pistol’s extra full length album, ”Forty-One Pills.”
Wet Suit (Johnny Dehaan) - Johnny contributes a great deal to the music currently getting pushed through PAR Records - Probably deserves more credit than he gets. (Ganges; Bass / Distractions; Bass / They Were Thieves; Bass)
Mr. Jean Jacket #2 (Tom Owens) - Tom makes shit happen. (Ganges; Casio etc. / Distractions; Almost anything you could imagine / They Were Thieves; too many to list - see liner notes of “Red River Blue” / Pet Lions; Lead Guitar)
Each of these guys holds a great amount of my respect both musically and just in general character.
The significance of this post, is that Pretty All Right Records - a record label, created and maintained by Tom (Mr. Jean Jacket #2), after a few years of laying low - is hoping to get back after it. -Each one of the kids rocking the hell out in this photo have, and continue to contribute to a portion of the music PAR Records puts out.
